Everton look increasingly unlikely to sign either Marko Arnautovic or Alex Witsel and are now being linked with Robbie Brady and Lamine Kone.
The Toffees have ‘called off their pursuit of Arnautovic’, according to the Liverpool Echo, who claim that the Austrian will actually sign a new contract with the Potters rather than move to Goodison Park in a £12.5m deal.
Meanwhile, Zenit midfielder Witsel has – according to Tuttosport – made it clear to the Russian club that he only wants to join Juventus, despite Everton making a bigger offer.
Ronald Koeman is now being linked with slightly more underwhelming targets – Hull left-back Brady and Sunderland centre-half Kone, who would apparently cost an eye-watering £15m just a few months after joining the Black Cats for £6m.
It's ok being patient and having faith that Everton will have a good transfer window but this summer is starting to feel all too familiar…
