Ferguson: Man United ‘deserve’ to be challenging for league

Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed that Jose Mourinho has been “unlucky” at Manchester United, who “deserve” to be challenging for the title.

United are in fifth place – 17 points behind leaders Chelsea – and have actually dropped 17 points at Old Trafford, with half of their home games ending in draws.

They have actually scored fewer goals at home (20) than away (22).

“I get on well with Jose and think he’s doing a really good job,” he told SiriusXM FC.

“He’s been a bit unlucky actually because there are home games this season they’ve been absolutely brilliant in but have drawn them.

“If they’d got those wins they deserved they’d be challenging for the league, there’s no doubt about that.”
