Anthony Martial was a late withdrawal from the Manchester United team for Thursday’s Europa League last-32 second leg against FC Midtjylland at Old Trafford.
United confirmed via Twitter just before kick-off that forward Martial had pulled out of the first XI having sustained an injury in the warm-up.
His replacement was 18-year-old Marcus Rashford, making his first-team debut. The youngster scored twice in a 5-1 home victory.
The club gave no details of Martial’s problem, but it appeared to be a hamstring issue. The Frenchman joins what is already a lengthy list of United players unavailable through injury, including captain Wayne Rooney.
We need at least one goal! Rooney, Martial, Keane all injured, Wilson out on loan so Marcus Rashford leads the line! pic.twitter.com/Tk22Rtfwms
