Roberto Firmino believes that Mario Gotze “would fit in” at Liverpool if the club were to sign him.
Liverpool have been linked with the Bayern Munich forward since the appointment of Jurgen Klopp as manager, with the Anfield boss having overseen Gotze’s progress at Borussia Dortmund from 2009 to 2013.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Dortmund themselves have also been linked with a move for the World Cup winner, whose contract at the Allianz Arena expires next year.
Gotze has featured just 11 times for Bayern as Pep Guardiola has cantered to another Bundesliga title, and it has been reported that incoming boss Carlo Ancelotti has informed the player that he will remain on the fringes of the first team.
The 23-year-old responded to the latest claims over his future on Saturday, but Firmino feels the German would be a suitable fit at Anfield.
“I know Gotze well from my time in Germany, when I played with Hoffenheim against Borussia Dortmund and Bayern,” Firmino told Bild.
“He has incredible qualities in attack.
“He would fit in well with us, and he will surely help us with his class also.”
