‘Frustrated’ Wenger apologises over ref rage

Arsene Wenger has issued an apology for the reaction that saw him sent to the stands in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Burnley.

The Gunners’ boss was furious with Jon Moss for awarding Burnley an injury time penalty and was dismissed from the dugouts by the Sunderland-born official.

However, after seeing his side ultimately win the game courtesy of a far more controversial penalty decision even deeper in stoppage-time, Wenger insisted he was simply “frustrated”.

“I didn’t see any penalty from outside but I should have shut up and I apologise, even if I was frustrated,” he said.

“We finally got the win but of course it was very difficult for us. We couldn’t get the second goal, we played with 10 men and they played well as well. In the end we got the three points we wanted.

“Burnley are well organised, they make the game simple but efficient. We won there in the last second and we one again in the last second today.

“Every week and every game is an unbelievable fight for everybody.”
