Steven Gerrard has labelled LA Galaxy’s signing of former England team-mate Ashley Cole a “very good bit of business”.
Cole linked up with Gerrard and Robbie Keane in Los Angeles on Wednesday after the 35-year-old was released from his contract at Roma.
Gerrard played alongside the former Arsenal and Chelsea defender for England for 14 years and he believes the recruitment of Cole is a savvy move.
“I think it is a master stroke by the club,” Gerrard said of Cole’s signing. “I know he looks after himself, he’s very professional, he’s hungry, he loves the game, and defence is one of the areas we went wrong last year.
“Ashley is a world-class defender, and he’s still got a lot to offer, so it’s a very good bit of business.”
