Steven Gerrard believes that Tottenham “need to add a little bit of experience” to their squad to improve as a team.
Tottenham were knocked out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage by Juventus on Wednesday, despite having led 1-0 in the second leg, and 3-2 on aggregate.
Spurs contrived to concede two goals in the space of around three minutes as Juventus battled to reach the quarter-finals.
Tottenham fell just short in their biggest audition yet, but Gerrard believes they are still on track to achieve what they want to.
“I don’t think it’s going to go wrong,” Gerrard told BT Sport. “Not with him in charge, I really like him, and I like what he’s building here.
“I think Spurs have proved throughout this campaign that they belong at this level, but to go past this level, they’re probably going to need to add a little bit of experience to the XI and to the squad.
“It is vital at this end of the competition that you have players who have got the know-how and the experience of being at this stage, it is crucial.”
