Olivier Giroud has reacted quite indignantly to suggestions that Arsenal need to strengthen in the transfer window to win the Premier League title.
Mohamed Elneny is expected to arrive from Basel to shore up an injury-hit midfield but some pundits – including Alan Shearer – have suggested that Arsenal still need another striker.
Giroud – who has not scored in the Gunners’ last three Premier League games – reacted to the suggestion in uppity fashion:
“Tell me where we need new players? Just tell me where? I will explain the opposite judgment,” he said after a squeaky 1-0 win over Newcastle.
“We have very good players as well on the bench, young players waiting to come in. They are very talented.
“I am not worried about it. I know that maybe we sign a player, an Egyptian one…it is close.
“Danny Welbeck will come back in one month and a half. Theo Walcott can play up front, Joel Campbell is doing well with his national team up front. If I am less good or get injured, we still have a solution.”
