Gossip: Aguero going, one in, one out at Liverpool

RUTHLESS PEP
Somebody has been talking to the media. Most newspapers have some variation of a ‘Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany fear for their Manchester City futures’ exclusive.

The story basically emanates from the fact that both players were omitted from City’s side to face Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday. Aguero was left on the bench as Pep Guardiola’s side failed to score in their 4-0 defeat; captain Kompany, who has regained fitness, did not even make the squad.

To take David McDonnell’s view from the Daily Mirror, Aguero is expected to be ‘the next high-profile casualty’ of his manager’s ‘ruthless revolution’. There is ‘tension’ between the pair, it is claimed.

What it definitely is not is a player or agent keen to try and scare Guardiola a little into playing either man more regularly. Not at all. No siree.

GO GO GOMEZ
From a world-class striker and a defender who, if he had working legs, could still be one of the best in the division, to one of the greatest full-backs in the game today. According to the Liverpool Echo, Bournemouth and Huddersfield want Joe Gomez.

The defender started the season under Brendan Rodgers last August, but fell to a knee injury upon Jurgen Klopp’s appointment in October. He then suffered an Achilles knock, and is still yet to feature under the German.

He has returned to full fitness however, and a January loan could be on the cards. Huddersfield boss David Wagner is close friends with Klopp, while Bournemouth like signing players from Anfield. Hello, Jordon Ibe. Hello, Brad Smith.

The bad news for both those sides is that a move ‘appears unlikely’. Gomez is not keen on leaving Liverpool, even temporarily, and the club are wary of launching him straight back into competitive action. They would rather ease him in with the Under 23s, having enjoyed relative success on that front with one Daniel William John Ings.

BUSY LIVERPOOL
One in, one out. If the 19-year-old Gomez does leave on loan, he could see 19-year-old Marc Roca pass him on the way out.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Roca is a target of Liverpool’s. He is entering the final year of his contract with Espanyol, and is considering his options.

What’s worse for the Spanish club is that his current release clause stands at just £1.35million. He has started six La Liga games this season, but could be headed to the Premier League. We cannot claim to have ever heard of him.
