Gossip: Chelsea want Sanchez; Ozil can go

CHELSEA WANT SANCHEZ
First reaction: Well of course they do.

Second reaction: As my mother would say, “They can want all they like.”

Which club would not be interested one of world football’s in-form players? We are pretty sure that there is no Premier League club who could not use a little Alexis Sanchez, equally brilliant – it seems – wide or as a striker. That Chelsea believe Sanchez would form a ‘dream strike partnership’ with Diego Costa – according to the Daily Mirror – is like saying we would all like a bit of custard with our apple pie.

It seems that Sanchez’s agents are trying to use £400,o00-a-week offers from China as a way to get Arsenal to basically treble his wages. But anybody who has seen an ultra-competitive Sanchez play will know that he would not be happy in China. And anybody who has been paying attention over the last couple of years should know that Arsenal will not sell to Chelsea and basically hand them next season’s title.

Our bet? Sanchez settles for double his wages when he realises that his only other option is a return to Italy, where there are no clubs willing to pay over £300,000 a week.

OZIL IS THE ‘EXPENDABLE’ ONE
It’s a version of essentially the same story in the Daily Telegraph but their line is that Mesut Ozil is seen as the player who is easier to replace and so Arsenal will listen to offers for him next summer if he is still refusing to sign a new contract. Marco Reus is already being eyed as a potential replacement for Ozil, it says here.

Basically the pair both want £20m a year (or £380,000 per week) but Arsenal are thought to be willing to go to £15m a year (or £288,000 per week) for one of them; Sanchez is seen as the most valuable so it is Ozil who will be ushered towards the door if he does not play ball. His suitors are likely to be Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

FELLAINI FOR SALE
Well he is one of the worst players in the top half of the table. According to the MailOnline on Wednesday afternoon, ‘Manchester United will consider offers for Marouane Fellaini but have little appetite to let him go out on loan.’ Unfortunately, the likes of West Ham and Sunderland would not be able to afford his wages on anything but a loan basis, with help from United.

One player who could leave in January is Morgan Schneiderlin, who is clearly not part of Jose Mourinho’s plans. The Mail say he is a target for Everton and West Brom, but surely Tottenham would be interested in reuniting him with Victor Wanyama?
