Gossip: Dahoud for Liverpool, Lamela wages and…
LIVERPOOL AND JUVE BATTLE FOR DAHOUD
Yes, this is from renowned Italian nonsense machine Calciomercato, but we are pretty sodding desperate for gossip here. They claim that Juventus and Liverpool are ready to duel (possibly literally) for Germany playmaker Mahmoud Dahoud next summer. The 20-year-old can leave Borussia Mönchengladbach for just £8.5m and that’s the kind of price that will make managers feel a little sexy inside.
The Syrian-born Germany U-21 international has apparently resisted all attempts to tie him down to a new contract; he knows he will have the pick of European clubs next summer when he has just 12 months left on his contract. He might be a tad annoyed that he is not even getting off the bench for Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga this season.
LAMELA WANTS £120k A WEEK
Now that’s a lot of money. And as the far better Christian Eriksen has just signed a contract for £80,000 a week, we would suggest that the Argentine can probably go whistle.
According to the Daily Mirror, Lamela wants a ‘three-year extension on top of the three years he has left to run on his current deal’ and ‘also wants to double the £60,000-a-week salary he is on’. We wonder whether that’s why he was on the bench for Saturday’s 4-0 win over Stoke, when Son Heung-Min coming into the side and scoring two goals.
Meanwhile, the Evening Standard claim that Kyle Walker is close to signing a new deal at Tottenham.
ALARIO IN DEMAND
Tottenham and Liverpool are among four clubs understood to be interested in River Plate striker Lucas Alario, who signed a new contract until 2020 with the Argentinian outfit. However the deal includes a release clause of £15.2million.
And according to Marca, Liverpool, Spurs, Torino and Benfica are all tracking the 23-year-old, who earned his first two caps for Argentina last month. Alario has scored 19 goals in 39 matches for River Plate, helping the club win the Copa Libertadores and Recopa Sudamericana since joining from Club Atlético Colón in 2015.
