Gossip: De Gea to Real Madrid, Aubameyang to Liverpool

REAL MADRID BACK IN FOR DE GEA
Hoo boy. Just when you think that Real Madrid have been fended off for the final time, like that wretched plant in Jumanji, back they come again to upset the apple cart. The buggers.

Most papers on Friday report the news that Real have not yet given up hope of signing David de Gea this summer, after missing out on Gianluigi Donnarumma. They will reportedly submit a £50m for the 26-year-old and then sit back and hope that De Gea pushes for a move.

Given Real’s determination to get full whack for Alvaro Morata, it’s hardly going to be an easy transfer to negotiate. But we are guaranteed another bloody back-page saga to take us through the next month, after others were resolved. How handy.

MENDY AFTER WALKER FOR CITY
After the failed bid to bring Dani Alves to England left many of us disappointed and Pep Guardiola very peeved indeed, Manchester City have decided that they better get to work quickly. Kyle Walker will have his medical on Friday, but thoughts have already turned to the next one through the door.

Within the next week, Manchester could have the two most expensive left-backs in the game’s history, with Luke Shaw’s £30m eclipsed by Benjamin Mendy’s forthcoming move to City.

It’s a move that has been in the pipeline for a fair while, but Mendy will reportedly sign for another cool £50m in the next few days. Gee whizz there’s going to be a battle in Manchester next season.

NOW LIVERPOOL LINKED WITH AUBAMEYANG (AGAIN)
It is the easiest link of them all. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a hatful of goals under Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, so has been consistently linked with a move to Liverpool since Klopp arrived in England.

Forget that Liverpool already have plenty of attacking options and probably aren’t going to spend £60m on a striker when they have plenty of other problems to solve, because The Sun say that Liverpool are in for him. It’s an exclusive from Mike McGrath. Nobody on Merseyside is reading, Mike.

AND THE REST
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is in talks with LA Galaxy about a move to the United States worth £6m-a-year… Chelsea star Michy Batshuayi is wanted by Fenerbahce… Wes Brown, Shay Given and Alex Bruce are training with non-league side Macclesfield… Nemanja Matic is desperate to force a move away from Chelsea… Andrea Ranocchia is set to seal a £5m switch to West Brom… Derby County have made a £4m bid to bring Matty James in from Leicester City.
