UNITED WANT DEMBELE (NOT THAT ONE) (OR THAT ONE)
Manchester United were one of five Premier League teams with a representative in attendance at Rennes’ clash with Lyon on Sunday night, most there to watch young French talent Ousmane Dembele.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who also say scouts from Arsenal, West Ham, Southampton and Stoke City were also present, while Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Tottenham have also been credited with an interest.
Dembele, 18, is being touted as the best talent to emerge from France in years and has scored nine goals this season. He set up Rennes’ first goal in their 2-2 draw on Sunday.
Barcelona, who also attended the game, and Bayern Munich are among the frontrunners for his signature. Barcelona are reputed to have offered £27million for the young forward in a bid to sign him this summer. Big money.
READY FOR A HAZARD/JAMES SWAP DEAL?
As we all know, major swap deals are incredibly common. Major clubs are forever swapping players with each other like they are Panini stickers. That being a massive lie still doesn’t stop many touting that the deals could happen.
The latest to take the plunge are The Sun, who claim that Real Madrid want to swap James Rodriguez for Eden Hazard. They label it a ‘sensational deal’, and they’re certainly right on that front.
Hazard and Rodriguez have enjoyed/endured similar passages of form over the 18 months. Both were bloody excellent last season (James after a £70m move), but performances have tailed off badly during this campaign. At Real Madrid, there is a suspicion that the Colombian likes to party a little too hard, and it is affecting his form.
TOURE WANTS TO STAY IN ENGLAND
It isn’t hard to imagine Yaya Toure’s agent sorting out a deal for his client to earn three squillion pounds a year in China, but reports suggest those predictions are wide of the mark.
Toure, who turns 33 in May, could well be sold as part of a Manchester City clear-out under Pep Guardiola, with Internazionale also keen to secure his services as well as interest from the Far East. However, the Daily Mirror say that Toure wants to stay in England beyond this summer, even if that means leaving City for another Premier League club.
The Mirror use quotes from a source close to the player, who says: “Yaya and the family are very happy in the UK, they enjoy living here and see no reason to change. Also, Yaya has extended family here including brothers and sisters.”
So there you go.
