DUTCH STRIKER CATCHES WENGER’S EYE
Arsenal are planning on making a move for AZ Alkmaar forward Vincent Janssen, according to reports on Friday.

The Daily Mirror claim Arsene Wenger ‘is checking’ on the 21-year-old, who has scored 26 goals in 33 games for the Eredivisie club, and who was called up to the Dutch national squad for the recent friendlies with France and England.

Janssen scored and provided an assist against England at Wembley in March and that has apparently alerted Arsenal’s scouts (they work hard, these scouts).

The report goes on to say that the Gunners have yet to make a move for the player as they try and evaluate whether he is good enough. So basically, they saw him at Wembley, he looked half-decent and Wenger wrote his name down on the back of his Sudoku puzzle.

The Mirror also claims they looked at Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi and Juventus striker Alvaro Morata is a ‘long term target’.

COURTOIS: IT’S ME OR THE COACH
The Sun claims Chelsea No. 1 Thibaut Courtois is set to leave Stamford Bridge after losing confidence in the club’s goalkeeping coach.

Courtois ‘is unhappy at working’ with 53-year-old Christophe Lollichon and he has already spoken to incoming boss Antonio Conte about his position if Lollichon stays on.

The report then states that the French Lollichon stayed at Stamford Bridge last term despite ‘protege’ Petr Cech leaving the Blues for Arsenal. How dare he not leave his job because one of his colleagues left?

The Belgian Courtois has apparently told Conte he will only remain at the Bridge if he can work with a new coach after blaming his dip in form on his three-month injury absence ‘allied to his frustrations at working with the Frenchman’.

Conte is believed to have asked the club to change the goalkeeping coach in an effort to keep Courtois, but he’s been told that Lollichon’s position is not up for review.

There may be trouble ahead…

MOURINHO MESS
In response to The Sun’s story on Jose Mourinho yesterday, the Daily Mail have claimed the Portuguese boss will not wait for Manchester United.

The Sun reported that United had asked Mourinho to wait a year before taking over as manager, but he will not sing to that tune say the Mail.

‘Despite a difficult season clouded by speculation, Old Trafford staff believe Van Gaal will now stay on for the final year of his contract.

‘That would mean Mourinho having to hold off taking the United hot seat until 2017-18, a wait he is not prepared to put up with,’ states the Mail.

The Mourinho to United saga gets more complicated each day, according to the tabloids, but what we can take from the latest reports is that none of them have a clue.

The Times meanwhile state the club would have to pay £5million if they sacked him, while the Dutchman has ordered 26ft-high fences to be built around pitches at United’s training ground to ‘prevent potential onlookers’.
