GRIEZMANN AGREES DEAL?
According to reports in France, Atletico Madrid man Antoine Griezmann has agreed ‘in principle’ to join Manchester United on a deal worth £15m a year. All United need to do is match his £85m buy-out clause and get lots of No. 7 shirts printed with the man’s name on the back.
Except, what’s this? Manchester United sources have told PA Sport (the kind of people who have Manchester United sources) that there is no truth in the rumours. No deal agreed. But then they would say that? Clubs aren’t really supposed to talk to footballers when they are under contract to other clubs. Not that contracts mean anything.
CHELSEA TO SPEND £100M
The amusing thing about this story on the back page of the Daily Mirror is that Antonio Conte being given £100m to spend in the summer is described as ‘major funds’ and a ‘summer spending spree’. What the Mirror appear to have forgotten: He spent £120m last summer so he’s probably not all that excited.
The names mentioned are the usual: Moussa Dembele, Virgil van Dijk and Alvaro Morata. Hmmm. We suspect that it will take more than £100m to buy that trio.
Meanwhile, reports in Italy suggest that Schalke’s Sead Kolasinac will join Juventus rather than Chelsea on a free transfer this summer after being persuaded to stay in Germany until the end of the season.
LAMELA BACK TO ARGENTINA?
This would not be a massive surprise. Absent from the Tottenham side despite apparently being fully recovered from a hip injury, Erik Lamela has flown back to South America recently to be with his brother.
Due to a family situation, Erik Lamela could leave Tottenham and head to River Plate in Argentina next season. https://t.co/rpe5DuDHZ0
