LIVERPOOL TARGET JESE TO JOIN ROMA
We were told earlier this week by the President of Las Palmas that “Liverpool, Milan and Roma want Jese and are ready to pay what he earns”, and now it seems that PSG’s £25m mistake Jese Rodriguez will join Roma on loan in January. Roma have reportedly agreed to pay £2.8m up front and a hefty chunk of his wages, with a view to signing him in a cut-price deal next summer.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said last week: “When you make a mistake, it’s better to try to correct it than to live with it.”
Poor Jese has started only one Ligue Un game this season and has scored just two goals in 14 appearances for PSG in all competitions this season.
CHELSEA TO BID £34M FOR VIDAL
Antonio Conte and Arturo Vidal love each other more than a little. They were together at Juventus and Conte said recently: “If I get to coach him a little more it’d be fantastic. I want him on all my teams.” According to The Sun, Chelsea will open the bidding at £34m for the Chilean, but Bayern Munich are likely to hold out for £40m. The same report claims that ‘Conte’s top target had been Radja Nainggolan but the Italian was not prepared to pay the £51.5million that Roma wanted for the Belgian midfielder’.
If Vidal would indeed drop everything to reunite with Conte at Chelsea, he is doing an excellent job of pretending otherwise, telling one interviewer this week: “I feel good here and I’m happy so it’s difficult to say that I want to finish my career elsewhere. I feel as if I’m at home.
“My family is doing well and my kids are better than ever. That helps me make decisions that help me and my family. When you’re happy with a team, like I am at Bayern, then you want to stay there a long time.”
KEANE TO EVERTON
The bad news for Everton fans is that the Daily Mail are talking about a move in the summer rather than January. Burnley’s Michael Keane has attracted interest from both Chelsea and Manchester United but ‘Sportsmail understands Everton are in pole position as Keane and his advisers consider his next move’. Keane obviously wants to play and he would walk straight into that Everton side as a partner for Ashley Williams.
Burnley turned down a £17m bid for Keane last summer but his refusal to sign a new contract means that they will have to relent at the end of this season, with Everton recruitment bod Steve Walsh – previously at Leicester – finally getting his man.
