Gossip: Liverpool want £200m for Salah; Jorginho on his way

MO SALAH WOULD COST £200M
We are surprised it took this long into the news vacuum that is international week for the Mo Salah rumours to really fly. The Sun online went big on Wednesday afternoon with the claim that ‘LIVERPOOL are facing a world record £200million fight to hold on to magic man Mo Salah’. Well of course they are – he is in astonishing form. Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are all credited with interest, presumably because they are the only clubs who could afford the massive price tag.

Liverpool got themselves a massive pile of money for Philippe Coutinho and they would do the same with Salah, with The Sun speculating that he would cost a world-record fee of around £200m. That’s the price for a massive amount of goals…

JORGINHO IN FOR LIVERPOOL?
‘Liverpool are lining up Italy international Jorginho as replacement for Emre Can,’ according to the Daily Mirror. They claim that Liverpool have edged ahead of Manchester United in the race for the Napoli man, and they seem confident that the successful history of Brazilian players at Liverpool would be a contributing factor if Jorginho had a choice between the two clubs. The defensive midfielder would cost in the region of £50m.

The Mirror say: ‘The problem would come with any interest from the La Liga giants of Barcelona or Real Madrid, but those two clubs are looking for players in different positions, which offers Klopp some hope.’

So they might get Jorginho, but lose Salah. Such is the lot of a club in Europe’s second tier.

INS AND OUTS AT MAN UNITED
Let’s start with the outs, with Marca claiming that Jose Mourinho will allow Juan Mata and Ander Herrera to make a decision on their futures this summer. Apparently, the Manchester United manager will tell the Spanish midfielders that he is happy for them to stay but their opportunities will be limited; alternatively, he will not stand in their way if they want to leave. Sounds very passive-aggressive.

And now the ins…the Daily Mirror say that ‘Manchester United are weighing up a summer move for Real Madrid’s £50million-rated defender Raphael Varane’. Well they can weigh all they like, but why would Varane leave Real Madrid? Madrid are said to be willing to sell for £50m. United are also interested in Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld and Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti, while Tottenham’s Danny Rose and Jose Gaya of Valencia are left-back targets.
