Gossip: Man United set aside £100m for Griezmann

NO. 7 DREAM FOR MANCHESTER UNITED
This is a wonderful piece of nonsense from the Daily Star, who claim that Manchester United ‘have left their No. 7 shirt free for a major signing – and have put aside £100 million in order to make it’. And the man they have earmarked for that iconic shirt is Atletico man Antoine Griezmann.

The Frenchman opted to stay in Spain last summer as a transfer ban would have left Atletico unable to replace him, but the Star claim he is ‘very much on manager Jose Mourinho’s wishlist’ and they hope to add his name to those of Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba, who dominate shirt sales in the UK.

VAN DIJK TO MOVE IN JANUARY?
We are massively desperate for transfer gossip here – it’s a Monday outside the transfer window – so we turn to the Transfer Window Podcast and former tabloid journalist Ian McGarry, who claims that Dutchman Virgil van Dijk is far more likely to move in January than either Philippe Coutinho or Alexis Sanchez.

He said:  “I spoke to a close friend of his and Van Dijk definitely believed his deal to Liverpool was all agreed in terms of his personal terms in terms of this transfer window that’s just closed. I think the takeover of Southampton Football Club, I say takeover, but the investment in Southampton Football Club had a negative effect from Van Dijk’s point of view.”

McGarry went on to say that he could move in January when the dust has settled on Southampton’s new investment.

AND THE REST
Are you joking? It has been a massive pain in the arse to get this far…
