Gossip: Man United to replace Rooney with Dembele
ROONEY’S REPLACEMENT
Would you like a juicy Sunday transfer exclusive? Of course you bloody would. We start with the news that Manchester United will rival Chelsea for the signing of Celtic striker Moussa Dembele this summer.
The Daily Star claim that Antoine Griezmann is United’s top striker target, but Dembele is being ‘tracked’ as a potential signing.
Dembele, scorer of 29 goals this season, is being targeted as ‘Wayne Rooney’s replacement’. It’s like trading in your old, broken-down car for a Ferrari. Or a potential Ferrari anyway. But that completely f**ks up the analogy. Shut up.
MANCHESTER TUSSLE
Staying in Manchester, the Daily Mirror claim both United and City want AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
With Jose Mourinho ‘fearing’ that David de Gea will leave some time soon, and Pep Guardiola wanting a goalkeeper who can save shots and all sorts, Italian Donnarumma could be in demand.
Donnarumma has made 55 Serie A appearances, keeping 18 clean sheets. He only turned 18 on Saturday. He’s a bit good.
TOFFEES KEANE
First, the bad news. Or the bad news for Everton fans at least: You won’t be signing Virgil van Dijk.
According to the Daily Mirror, Ronald Koeman has conceded defeat in his quest to sign the Southampton centre-half. The Premier League’s elite all want the Dutchman, so Everton’s chances are slim.
Now, the good news. The manager will now turn his attentions to Michael Keane, he of Burnley. The 24-year-old could cost up to £20million, but Koeman wants him.
