UNITED EYE FULHAM STARLET SESSEGNON
Manchester United are said to be willing to let Luke Shaw leave in January, but they might get his replacement for half the £50million they were supposedly willing to spluff on Danny Rose.
The new-ish name in the frame is Ryan Sessegnon. The Fulham defender doesn’t turn 18 until the end of the season but that hasn’t stopped Tottenham and Real Madrid from tailing him.
Sessegnon has also been on United’s radar for some time too and, according to The Guardian, the Red Devils are said to be ready to start the bidding at £25million.
The England Under-19 starlet operates as a left-back but can also be employed further up the field, as evidenced by his hat-trick in a 5-4 win over Sheffield United last month.
As well as Sessegnon, Tottenham are also tracking his twin brother Steven, who also plies his trade for Fulham as well as England Under-17s, and Shaw too, who appears not to have won over Mourinho.
RED DEVILS READY FOR BIG NAME ARRIVAL
Apparently, the United squad are expecting a big name arrival in the summer. Well, yeah…
The Manchester Evening News says the talk among Mourinho’s squad is of a move for either Gareth Bale or Antoine Griezmann. Bale is widely reported to be heading towards the Real Madrid exit, while Griezmann has been told that Atletico will not stand in his way should he express a wish to leave.
France star Greizmann, however, is supposedly Barcelona-bound, despite Atletico’s complaint to FIFA over Barca’s advances on the 24-year-old. Bale, though, is said to have set his heart on a return to the Premier League, specifically with United. But that report comes from Don Balon so treat it with a fistful of salt.
LUKAKU’S GRIPE REVEALED
In between debates over whether they would rather play with Bale or Griezmann, some of the United players might want to check on Romelu Lukaku and give him a big cuddle.
The Mirror claim they know the reason why he has refused to celebrate his last two goals for the club: apparently he’s sulking over Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Ibra returned last month from a career-threatening knee injury and despite the player and his manager talking him up as a deep-lying forward, Lukaku is supposedly unhappy with Zlatan coming off the bench and telling him to shuffle off out wide while the big man gets to work through the middle.
Lukaku is also supposedly unhappy with Mourinho and his staff for not pulling up Ibrahimovic, perhaps unaware of where the instruction is likely to have come from in the first place.
According to The Mirror’s story, “Lukaku, 24, feels aggrieved – especially as he showed the older man respect by asking for his blessing to take over the No 9 shirt in July”.
Grown men, apparently…
