MOURINHO WANTS KEANE RETURN
Jose Mourinho has joined the race to sign Burnley defender Michael Keane, according to the Daily Mirror. The England international joined the Turf Moor outfit from United for £2.5million in 2015 following a successful loan spell but the newspaper claims the Red Devils could now have to pay over ten times that to bring him back.
Keane did well for England in their international friendly with Germany and his stock has risen dramatically this season with Liverpool, Everton, Chelsea and Tottenham all thought to be interested. Despite his reported £30million price tag, United are keen and there are understood to have been sell-on clauses in the deal that prised him away from Old Trafford. As such, United could manage to negotiate a slightly more favourable deal.
SEVILLA EYE POCHETTINO AS NEXT BOSS
We have our second big story of the day straight out of the Daily Mirror, with the publication claiming that Sevilla will look to tempt Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino to Spain if Jorge Sampaoli takes over as the new Argentina manager.
Pochettino has done an impressive job at Spurs since leaving Southampton to take the reins at White Hart Lane, with vast improvements in their league performances. No major trophies have come yet but the Argentinian is regarded as one of the best young managers in the world.
The newspaper reckons Sampaoli is set to leave for a job in international football but the La Liga side will try to block his departure. It is also thought that Pochettino would be reluctant to leave with Tottenham enjoying a good season in the Premier League and with ambitions to take them to the title. In short: No chance.
KOLASINAC TO SIGN FOUR-YEAR DEAL AT ARSENAL
Arsenal have won the race for Schalke defender Sead Kolasinac, according to reports. Finally, it seems the Gunners may have won something. Wahey.
The Daily Mail reports that the Bosnian will sign a four-year deal after being given assurances that Arsene Wenger will remain as manager next season.
Not only will Gunners fans be ecstatic that they are about to sign a Bosnian international on a free transfer but they may have to endure Wenger for another couple of seasons as well. The report continues by saying that the Gunners have ‘begun their rebuilding plans’ for the next campaign and have made it clear to potential new recruits that the Frenchman will still be in the picture next season. Not only that, but discussions with existing players over new deals are set to be conducted under the same proviso.
