Gossip: Muller to Chelsea or Arsenal, Gomes for Spurs

MULLER MIGHT BE LONDON BOUND
Ooooh, actual proper transfer gossip instead of speculation about what might or might not have happened in the summer. The Daily Mirror say: ‘Chelsea and Arsenal are expected to renew their interest in Bayern Munich superstar Thomas Muller in January.’ Renew? Well, they claim that both clubs – and Liverpool – asked about Muller over the summer.

And now we have read the whole report, it sounds like there really is no new news. They are ‘expected to renew their interest’ because there really is no reason to change their minds.

Muller was only a substitute in Bayern’s last Bundesliga game – a 2-0 win over Werder Bremen – with Thiago preferred in that No. 10 role behind Robert Lewandowski, but there is little indication that Bayern want to sell.

GOMES FOR SPURS?
‘Tottenham are set to go back in for Barcelona’s Andre Gomes in January – but could face renewed competition from West Ham’, according to the Daily Star. Ah, another renewal of interest. Just what we need.  Gomes was apparently set to join Tottenham on loan on deadline day but Barcelona pulled the plug when they failed to find a replacement. Quite why they need a replacement for a man who is yet to play a La Liga minute this season is unclear.

West Ham are also said to be interested in the Portuguese midfielder but the Star say that ‘Gomes favoured a move to Tottenham to work with Mauricio Pochettino’. Odd that.

COSTA TO BESIKTAS THIS WEEK?
It should be stressed that this is an ‘according to reports in Spain’ story, and that the source is the quite dodgy OKDiario, but there is some logic to Costa joining Turkish club Besiktas on a temporary basis as he cannot join Atletico Madrid until January. Costa was this week omitted from Chelsea’s Champions League squad so he could go and play in Europe for the Turkish side, if he can get fit quickly.
