Gossip: New Werner suitors; Spurs eye Everton starlet

BARCA ENTER WERNER RACE
Barcelona have joined Liverpool, Tottenham and Real Madrid in the race for RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner.

Werner scored 21 goals in the Bundesliga last term and laid on another seven, sparking interest from Europe’s big hitters. He has five goals in six league games so far this season which, according to Mundo Deportivo, has tempted Barca into the mix.

If they were watching him at Besiktas on Wednesday night, they would have been disappointed. The 21-year-old asked to be substituted just over half an hour into Leipzig’s 2-0 defeat, which leaves them bottom of Champions League Group G. “It is important to see who I can rely on in moments like these, who is prepared to defend himself against what is going on on the pitch,” said manager Ralph Hasenhuttl. “To encounter such an atmosphere was too much for some.”

Hardly a glowing reference…

SPURS LOOKING AT LOOKMAN MOVE
Tottenham are considering a move for Everton starlet Ademola Lookman, apparently.

That is the claim in The Mirror, which reports Spurs are looking to capitalise on the England Under-21 international’s uncertain situation at Goodison Park.

Lookman joined Everton from Charlton in January for £11million and made a bright start, scoring against Manchester City with his first shot for his new club. He finished the season with eight Premier League appearances, including three starts. But with Ronald Koeman seemingly reluctant to use wingers this term – a plan which is working out just swimmingly – Lookman is yet to see any action in the league.

Spurs could rekindle their interest while Crystal Palace, who Lookman also rejected in favour in moving to Everton, are keeping tabs. Huddersfield failed with a loan bid in the summer but the Terriers could try again in January.
