FENERBAHCE TO MAKE OZIL BID
More Arsenal news! This time it’s not them definitely signing every transfer target they want because Arsene Wenger is staying and everything is going to be fine and take Arsenal to the next level and please go and buy all the season tickets up, but Mesut Ozil’s likely next destination.

John Cross writes that Fenerbahce are looking to make an ambitious bid to sign Ozil. We have no doubt that Fener would love to sign Ozil, but surely he will get an offer from a club with greater European ambitions?

Interestingly, Cross also says that Arsenal will be looking to ‘at least’ get their money back on Ozil, the £42.5m they paid Real Madrid.

Firstly, no they won’t because Ozil has one year left on his contract. Secondly, if they do expect to get their money back, Fenerbahce won’t be signing him.

WEST HAM TO SIGN DEFOE ON A FREE AND TARGET SIGURDSSON
You have to hand it to West Ham. They really are committed to living in 2010.

Firstly we hear that they want to sign Daniel Sturridge this summer. Then we hear they would love to sign Wayne Rooney. Now the talk is that Jermain Defoe will be coming back to the club this summer on a free transfer should Sunderland be relegated. And Sunderland will be relegated.

The story comes from the Daily Mirror, who enjoyably call Defoe a ‘former Portsmouth goal machine’, but they actually use The Sun’s Daniel Cutts as the source:

Does Cutts use a ‘Hammers source’? Course he bloody does:

“We remain interested in Jermain after trying to sign him in January. He’s 34 but his call up for England tells you everything you need to know. We want to discover where he stands on the contract.”

The Daily Mirror also say that West Ham want to sign Gylfi Sigurdsson this summer. Bad news, Hammers fans: Sigurdsson has said he wants to join a ‘major club’ this time. Wounder.

LIVERPOOL WANT PERISIC, APPARENTLY. AND GINTER. AND HERNANDEZ
The papers are full of Liverpool transfer rumours on Wednesday morning. The Sun, known for their great Liverpool contacts and healthy relationship with the club and city, say that Jurgen Klopp wants to sign Matthias Ginter from Borussia Dortmund and left-back Theo Hernandez from Atletico Madrid.

The left-back issue is interesting, because the Daily Mirror say that Alberto Moreno has two months to ‘save his Liverpool future’. We would have thought being behind a former midfielder in the pecking order and being largely catastrophic whenever he plays might just have sealed that future.

Elsewhere in the Daily Mirror, ‘Football Spy’ reports that Liverpool are ‘ready to pay’ £30m for Ivan Perisic of Inter and Croatia. They’ve taken that one from Tuttomercatoweb, which tells you all you need to know.
