UNITED VS CITY FOR RENATO SANCHES
We’ll start with the Sunday Times, and their report on the future of Benfica’s Renato Sanches. The boy is sure in demand.
Interested in Sanches from Manchester United has been on the cards for a few months, but the Times claim that United will hardly be the only club interested in him, even at a reported price of £47m.
Most notably, they believe that Pep Guardiola and Manchester City are also looking to sign Sanches, with Paris St Germain and Real Madrid also both sniffing around the Portugal international. He’s only bloody 18. Lucky b*stard.
BARCELONA WANT SCHMEICHEL
Kasper Schmeichel has been bloody excellent this season, of that there is no doubt. We picked him at No. 5 in our list of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League this season.
That said, Schmeichel has been protected by a defence playing at its peak, and he also turns 30 in November. This makes reported Barcelona interest in him a bit odd, especially when the reported fee is £15m.
If Schmeichel was Jack Butland’s age we could see the logic, but would Barcelona not be better signing a goalkeeper who is a little more… well, elite? He’s six years older than Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.
SPURS WANT LACAZETTE AND BOUFAL
Whether or not Tottenham win the title this season, it’s easy to see that the future could be really bloody bright at White Hart Lane. For as long as they keep hold of Mauricio Pochettino, it’s difficult to envisage any players wanting to leave.
Instead, it’s players coming into the club that dominate the gossip columns. Firstly, the Sunday Express use reports from Italy which claim that a £16m offer has been made for winger Sofiane Boufal, who is an absolute gem.
Elsewhere, the Sunday Mirror believes that Tottenham are closing in on the £23.5m signing of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon at the end of the season, finally providing that striker back-up that Harry Kane will desperately need. It looks like poor Saido Berahino is going to have to alter his ambitions.
UNITED TO SELL DEPAY
Another day, another story about Manchester United trying to sell Memphis Depay in the summer. He might have been pretty rotten this season, but there won’t be a shortage of takers.
The Sunday Mirror reports that clubs in both England and on the continent have been sounded out to see if they fancy taking Depay at a knockdown price at the end of the season. Depay has scored just two Premier League goals this season.
To be honest, while these transfer stories are all very interesting, all we want to know is what car Depay is driving today.
