Gossip: Sigurdsson, Lemar, Foyth, Rodriguez
SIGURDSSON TO EVERTON IS A THING
It’s been a bit of a thing for some time, but now it’s really a thing. Everton have been more proactive than any Premier League club not called Huddersfield Town, and it looks like they are going to take their spending past the £100million mark with the signing of Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Everton have already had three bids for Sigurdsson rejected by Swansea, but Everton are going to make a £32m bid in order to get their man. That’s according to the Daily Mail. Ross Barkley really would have to leave, then.
Sandro Ramirez, Wayne Rooney, Ademola Lookman, Tom Davies, Yannick Bolasie, Kevin Mirallas and Davy Klaassen with Olivier Giroud potentially arriving too? Everton are going to be damn interesting to watch next season.
LEMAR TO ARSENAL IS A THING TOO
Another club that have had multiple bids rejected for a transfer target is Arsenal. They want Thomas Lemar and they want him bad.
Arsenal have had £30m and £40m offers rejected by Monaco, who really don’t want to sell any more of their successful 2016/17 team, but Arsene Wenger will now go to £45m in order to land Lemar. Lemar has always been Arsenal’s top priority in a wide midfield role, with Riyad Mahrez their back-up option.
Elsewhere, Theo Walcott will reportedly reject a move to West Ham (or anywhere else) in order to stay and fight for his first-team place at Arsenal. If Lemar did sign, that’s going to be harder than ever.
SPURS IN FOR £10M CENTRAL DEFENDER
And that £10m defender is Juan Foyth of Estudiantes. Fun fact: Juan Foyth is actually Spanish for ‘invoice’.
In the Daily Mirror, Darren Lewis writes that Mauricio Pochettino wants the 19-year-old Argentinean and is set to reject interest from Russia and Roma in order to wait for the ideal club.
“If I do go it is not because I want to, but rather to help the club out economically,” Foyth said last week. Well isn’t that the perfect way to ingratiate yourself at a new club.
