Gotze: Enough has been written about my future

Mario Gotze has issued the latest update with regards to his playing future heading into next season.

Gotze has been heavily linked with a move away from current club Bayern Munich, with Arsenal and Chelsea thought to be vying for the midfielder’s signature.

Premier League rivals Liverpool are the frontrunners to sign the 23-year-old due to his previous relationship with current Reds manager Jurgen Klopp however.

Much has been written on Gotze’s future this summer, with the latest reports offering hope to Liverpool in their chase.

However, Gotze himself outlined his wish to stay at Bayern and fight for a starting place under incoming manager Carlo Ancelotti, leading to confusion over his future.

Speaking after Germany’s surprise 3-1 defeat to Slovakia in a Euro 2016 warm-up friendly, he was again asked on the latest rumours.

“I think enough was written and done,” Gotze replied. “I’ve said everything about this. Now I’m at the Euros and don’t want to say anything about this.”

After playing the full 90 minutes against Slovakia, the German agreed that the defeat would be “a big lesson”.

“The second half was difficult,” he said. “I think we did well until we lost a bit of our control over the opponent.

“They scored an outstanding goal, to get two set-pieces mustn’t happen. I think that’s a big lesson for us.

“The second half under those circumstances was quite difficult, but we have to deal with it.

“We should have done better for sure.”
