Carlo Ancelotti has cast doubt on Mario Gotze’s Bayern Munich future after affording the player no guarantees.

Gotze has been linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena this summer, as a reunion with former manager Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool once looked the most likely outcome.

However, Tottenham moved ahead of their Premier League rivals with regards to signing the player at the weekend.

On Sunday, it emerged that both English clubs were likely to lose out to Borussia Dortmund, with Gotze looking to rekindle his career at his former club.

Speaking at his official unveiling as Bayern manager on Monday, Ancelotti could not afford any assurances over the German’s future at the club.

“I said about him what I said about [defender, Mehdi] Benatia,” Ancelotti began. “He is a Bayern player. I spoke to him one month ago. It was private.

“He’s a Bayern player so I’ll consider him. I’ll treat him as one.

“He’s a player at Bayern and until he’s not, I don’t have to think other things.”

At the weekend, Ancelotti told German newspaper Bild, on Gotze: “I had a private conversation with him. I explained my position, he explained to me his position. He knows the opinion of the FC Bayern.”
