Griezmann almost joined Tottenham; turned down Guardiola
Antoine Griezmann was lined up by Tottenahm as a replacement Gareth Bale in the summer of 2014.
That is according to Griezmann himself, who makes the revelation in his upcoming biography.
The Frenchman claims that, while Bale left Tottenham for Real Madrid a year earlier, the north London club considered signing him to replace the Welsh forward.
Tottenham did not sign any strikers that summer, choosing instead to bring in Ben Davies, Michel Vorm, Eric Dier, DeAndre Yedlin, Federico Fazio and Benjamin Stambouli in Mauricio Pochettino’s first season in charge.
Griezmann would leave Real Sociedad that summer, but made the short journey to Atletico Madrid.
The 26-year-old is constantly linked with a move away from the Spanish capital, and has explained why, although a move to Manchester United interests him, one factor is preventing the deal from happening.
In his biography, Griezmann also says that Pep Guardiola wanted him to join Barcelona B during his days at Sociedad.
