Griezmann confirms negotiations with Atletico
Antoine Griezmann claims he would even reject overtures from Real Madrid and Zinedine Zidane to stay at Atletico Madrid.
Griezmann has scored 22 goals in 38 La Liga games to help Atletico to third place this season, as well as seven goals in their run to the Champions League final.
Atletico face Real in a repeat of the cross-city final in 2014, which Los Blancos eventually won after extra-time.
Griezmann’s form has led to reported interest from some of Europe’s largest clubs, with Chelsea and Manchester United of the Premier League thought to hold an interest in the Frenchman.
It was believed that the striker, 25, could be persuaded to join Real under the guidance of compatriot Zidane, but Griezmann has rejected such claims.
“If Zidane calls me [and asks me to join Real] I will say that I’m at Atletico,” he told Canal Plus. “Zidane is a great person, but I’m here.
“I’m even talking to renew my contract. I hope [the talks] will succeed.”
