Grujic swaps Liverpool for Cardiff until end of season

Championship side Cardiff City have completed the signing of Marko Grujic from Liverpool on loan for the rest of the season.

The Serbia international joined the Reds in January 2016 for £5.1million from Red Star Belgrade – but he has found it tough to grab a regular place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting line-up.

The deal is Cardiff’s second loan deal of the January transfer window, having secured Yanic Wildschut from fellow Championship side Norwich City until the end of the season.

Grujic has only featured six times for Liverpool this campaign which included two Champions League appearances off the substitutes bench against Hoffenheim and Maribor.

And the 21-year-old revealed the reasons behind swapping Merseyside for Wales with manager Neil Warnock playing a key role in securing his signature.

“This is a good opportunity for me, to play in a club that will be fighting until the end to get in to the Premier League,” said Grujic.

“To work with a manager like Neil Warnock is something I’m looking forward to. I’ve heard good things about him and when he spoke to me he said some good things about me and that I had a chance to play as part of his squad.

“I’m looking forward to Saturday and the rest of the season. I want to make the Cardiff City fans happy and look forward to playing in front of them. I’ve seen the team play a couple of times so I know what to expect.”
