Pep Guardiola has discussed whether Paul Pogba could join Manchester City when he becomes manager in the summer.

Pogba is set to be one of the most sought-after transfer targets this summer, with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United among the clubs keen on the France star.

It was thought that Barca had won the race to sign the 22-year-old but the Catalan club are said to have backed out, choosing instead to use the summer window to focus on securing the futures of Neymar and Lionel Messi.

That has left the door open for City, who look set to make a move to bring the former Manchester United academy player back to the north west.

Incoming coach Guardiola said of Pogba: “Now he’s a Juventus player, he’s very strong and very young. He’s shown his value, but I know he’s happy at Juve and I wish him a long career.

“Would I like to coach him? It doesn’t depend on me, but on the club.”
