Guardiola to target Wilshere and Sanchez – report

Oh wow. The Daily Mirror are reporting that Pep Guardiola’s first moves as Manchester City manager will be to target Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez and Jack Wilshere.

The path from Arsenal to City has been particularly well-trodden since Sheikh Mansour’s takeover in 2008: Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor, Gael Clichy, Samir Nasri, Bacary Sagna.

In the Mirror, Simon Mullock has gone big on his claims that Sanchez and Wilshere could also be making the journey, and taking Danny Rose along with them for the ride.

We are told that Guardiola wants to ‘build his midfield’ around Wilshere and covets the signing of Sanchez too. Rose is added almost as an afterthought but would also surely cost around £25m? How much would the three be together, £110m?

In fairness to Mullock, the piece is filled with details. He claims that a £40m bid could be enough for City to land Wilshere, and that a similar fee would be enough to get Sanchez, making Arsenal £5m profit on the Chilean (and also causing a riot in north London)

At the end, Mullock casually mentions the probable arrival of John Stones, Aymeric Laporte and Ilkay Gundogan. It’s going to be a busy summer at the Etihad.
