Guardiola: ‘We have to improve to win Premier League’

Pep Guardiola has said that Manchester City have to improve to win the Premier League despite producing the performance of the season against Manchester United on Saturday.

We detailed just how good City were in our 16 Conclusions from the match, but Guardiola has made it clear that City have to improve again, despite winning their first four fixtures.

“I want to tell the brilliant audience here and our fans that, okay, we are first place, but it will not be enough to win the Premier League,” said Guardiola ahead of their Champions League opener.

“You have to improve to in the Premier League. Of course, we are so happy for the results, the numbers and the way we have played until now.

“But it will not be enough to win the Premier League. We have to improve.

“But it is normal. All the teams have to improve, especially when the managers are new.”

Guardiola also defended goalkeeper Claudio Bravo once again after his mistake, saying: “He is so strong, I saw the game again yesterday to realise what kind of things we did good and what kind of things we need to improve on.

“I was convinced [by Bravo] before the game and after seeing it again it was the same.

“I’m going to tell you something – Claudio Bravo and Willy Caballero are going to play and are going to make mistakes in the future.

“They’re not going to save all the goals and opponents are going to score goals against them. I’m pretty sure about that.”
