Michy Batshuayi must adapt to English football before he can show his true potential, according to Chelsea team-mate Eden Hazard.
Batshuayi signed for £33million from Ligue 1 side Marseille after scoring 17 goals in 32 starts for the French side.
Antonio Conte’s men open their Premier League season against West Ham in the Monday night clash at Stamford Bridge, where the Italian will take charge of his first competitive fixture.
Hazard, who had a poor season during Chelsea’s awful title defense last term, is hoping the fans don’t put too much expectation on Batshuayi ahead of the home encounter.
“I played with Michy for Belgium. He is still young, he can finish and is very good,” Hazard told Sky Sports.
“He just needs to adapt to English football and he will. He is intelligent and a good player.”
The Batshuayi transfer combined with the £30million the club paid for N’Golo Kante takes the Blues’ spending over £60million this summer.
