Henderson names two games when fans were most inspirational

Jordan Henderson has praised Liverpool fans, naming two occasions when they were their most inspirational.

Henderson was appointed Reds captain in summer 2015 upon the departure of Steven Gerrard.

The midfielder has played his part in a number of memorable Liverpool games since joining the club from Sunderland in 2011.

In an exclusive interview with the wonderful The Anfield Wrap, the 27-year-old picked out two games when the fans most inspired the players.

He named the recent Europa League victory over Borussia Dortmund in April 2016, and the 3-2 win over Manchester City in April 2014.

“You definitely notice a difference when it’s at its best, it’s electric really,” he said.”If you ask anyone who’s played there, even if it isn’t for Liverpool, on a lot of occasions Anfield is one of the best stadiums in the world to play at.

“The fans are incredible, the noise that they can create it is like an extra man really. It gives you that confidence and that boost.

“The biggest moment I can feel is obviously the Dortmund game that was the most recent one, it was something special.

“I can also remember when we were going for the title, when we finished second, we were playing City at home. Just before the game it was something I’d never experienced before. It just felt as though we couldn’t lose.”
