Manchester United have taken up their option on Ander Herrera and the Spaniard’s contract has now been extended until 2019.
The Mail say that ‘Atletico Madrid have been showing interest in the 28-year-old but Herrera is happy in Manchester and wants to continue working with coach Jose Mourinho’, and some discussions have taken place about a new long-term contract.
My only issue with the club is that we relied on Pogba to that extent that our season season was mildly if not greatly impacted by his injury.
A club like United should have a worthy replacement. Ander Herrera is a good player but nowhere near Pogba’s level.

Herrera was United’s Player of the Year last season but has started just five Premier League games this season; he was relegated back to the bench on Saturday as Paul Pogba returned.
United’s priority is clearly protecting their assets and it is now expected that United will also trigger one-year options with Juan Mata, Luke Shaw, Ashley Young and Daley Blind.
Shaw finally made a Premier League bench for the first time on Saturday as United beat Newcastle United 4-1.
