Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera believes that Tottenham “deserved to win” against Liverpool on Saturday.
Spurs were held to a 1-1 draw at Anfield by Liverpool in their continued quest to win their first Premier League title, with the drawing leaving them seven points behind leaders Leicester with six games to play.
Both sides had numerous chances during a frenetic display, with Spurs having more possession (58%) and more shots (18 to 15), but the hosts registered more attempts on target (seven to five).
Speaking ahead of United’s upcoming game against Tottenham on Sunday, Herrera admitted that he felt the North London side deserved a crucial victory at the weekend.
“When we play against top teams, I am not so worried about our performance because I think we usually do quite well against top teams,” Herrera said.
“The most difficult games for us or when I am a little bit more worried is when we’re not playing against top teams.
“We have now one week to train, one week to prepare for the game. It is not so usual.
“This season we have played almost every three days, so we have to prepare very good for that game because we watched the game against Liverpool.
“I think they deserved to win, they controlled the second half almost fully, so it is not going to be easy, but when we play against top teams I think we perform better.”
Another trip to London is next just days later as United face West Ham in an FA Cup quarter-final replay the following Wednesday.
