How many Arsenal players would get in other top six teams?

Arsenal do not have many players who would get into the teams of their direct Premier League rivals, according to Paul Merson.

Arsenal are sixth in the Premier League this season, seven points behind fifth-placed Tottenham and nowhere near the pace of Champions League qualification.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and even supposedly crisis-ridden Chelsea are faring much better than the Gunners this season.

Merson is unsure as to whether many of Arsenal’s first-team players would get into the sides of their main rivals.

“The thing that surprises me with Arsenal is that you look at their team and there aren’t many that would get in all the other teams,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“The goalie, the whole of the back four, Xhaka and Elneny wouldn’t get in.

“They wouldn’t get in anyone else’s team in the top five. Nobody would take any of them.

“That is the worry. With Tottenham, you could reel off a lot of players who, if they all went up for sale tomorrow, the big boys would snap them up.

“Arsenal have got lost a bit.

“We point the finger at Arsene but the players aren’t good enough.”
