Huddersfield have broken their transfer record once again to land Benin international striker Steve Mounie from Montpellier.

And left-back Scott Malone has also arrived on a three-year deal from Fulham on another busy day for the Premier League new boys.

While the official fee for Mounie is officially undisclosed, it has been reported as £11.5million, eclipsing a series of previous records set by the Terriers this summer.

Laurent Depoitre arrived in a £3.5m deal from Porto followed by the £8m signing of midfielder Aaron Mooy from Manchester City, and an undisclosed deal for Derby winger Tom Ince.

Town boss David Wagner told the club’s official website: “I’m delighted that we could sign Steve ahead of the start of pre-season training. He has a very exciting combination of attributes that makes him a very attractive proposition as a young striker.”

Mounie said he had fulfilled a lifelong dream with a move to English football.

“It is a big challenge for me and I hope I will do very well,” he told HTTV.

“We know how the Premier League is the best championship in the world and it was a dream when I was young and it was a goal for me.

“Now I am here and I will work very hard to do my bit for the team.”

Meanwhile the 26-year-old Malone enjoyed a successful season with Fulham, culminating in him being named in both the EFL and PFA’s Championship teams of the year.

Wagner added: “I’m excited to welcome Scott to Huddersfield Town. Our fans will have seen in our games against Fulham last season what a good player he is and I know his abilities will suit our style of play very well.”

Huddersfield also announced defender Tareiq Holmes-Dennis has joined Sky Bet League One side Portsmouth on a season-long loan.

The Terriers have an option to recall Holmes-Dennis in January. The 21-year-old left-back made 15 appearances last season after joining for an undisclosed fee from Charlton last August.
