Sergio Aguero says he fancies himself to improve on his goal tally from last season now Pep Guardiola is in charge at Manchester City.
The City striker scored 24 goals in 30 Premier League appearances last campaign and bagged a further five in other competitions.
Aguero, who netted a hat-trick in the Citizen’s 4-0 Champions League win over Borussia Moenchengladbach, has started this season on fire, scoring nine goals in five games under new City boss Guardiola
“I’m really happy with the new manager,” he told reporters. “He is one of the managers that have helped me most in my career, I’ve improved my game near the box and scoring goals, with Guardiola I will score more goals.”
Aguero missed Saturday’s Manchester derby victory through suspension but he was back with a bang against Gladbach, taking only eight minutes to open the scoring.
Despite adding another two goals in the match, Aguero still seemed unhappy with his performance in the Group C opener.

“By not playing some games you lose some rhythm but I am happy to be playing again and for the goals. The first half perhaps I wasn’t so happy, I lost a lot of balls but the second half was a bit better. Pep demands the same of everyone and he does the same to me, I have to help to mark, to help on the offensive side and with everything – defend and attack.”
The Argentinian is targeting another semi-final appearance in this season’s Champions League but admits he wants to win the trophy before the end of his contract in three years time.
“Obviously the Champions League is not easy, but our objective is to try to get where we got last season – the semi-final. There is a process first but we have to keep going this way and hopefully we can get much further. We have great players and a great team and we can do it.
“I still have three more years here. I hope to achieve that [winning the tournament] at some point as it’s really important for any player. Obviously the Champions League is not easy, there are a lot of fantastic teams as well. But my idea and club’s idea is the same: to try to win this competition.”
