Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set for a court date in Sweden as he pursues legal action against doctor Ulk Karlsson who claimed he doped while playing for Serie A side Juventus.

The Swede is suing for defamation after Karlsson made the accusation in Varmlands in April and now newspaper Expressen says the court date is confirmed for 1pm on December 19th.

Karlsson, who is also Swedish, was part of the medical set-up for Sweden’s Olympic campaign and NWT reported that the doctor thought Ibrahimovic’s short-term weight gain while at Juve was suspicious.

“Zlatan put on 10 kilos in six months during his time at Juventus,” he said. “I think he was doping, that’s how it seems to me. I am convinced of it.

“He put on 10 kilos of muscle in six months. It’s impossible to do that in such a short space of time.”

Karlsson has since apologised and has denied that he ever said the former Milan and Barcelona star had definitely doped.
