Diego Costa’s perceived preferential treatment from Jose Mourinho is causing ‘friction’ amongst the Chelsea squad, according to reports.
The Chelsea crisis dominates the back pages on Wednesday morning, with The Sun saying that ‘Chelsea’s flops are turning on boss Jose Mourinho and each other’, while the Daily Mirror claim that Mourinho ‘has told his players he should have sold them in the summer’.
What unites both reports is talk of Costa’s treatment going down badly with other members of the squad. The Sun say there is ‘anger’ that he ‘got away with chucking his substitute’s bib in Mourinho’s direction’, while his ‘sleeping’ gesture against Leicester has not been received well.
Meanwhile, the Mirror use the word ‘friction’ to describe a situation in which ‘some squad members are believed to feel the striker gets away with things others should not be allowed to, including turning up overweight for pre-season’.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail say ‘there is a toxic dressing room now’.
Would it be the worst thing for Jose Mourinho if he were sacked now?
