Juve want both Liverpool midfielder and Liverpool target
Liverpool are facing a double blow with Juventus chasing both Emre Can and Leon Goretzka.
Can is coming towards the end of his contract at Liverpool, with his current deal expiring in summer 2018.
Both club and player have been locked in contract negotiations but are no closer to striking a deal, and so Can is expected to leave Anfield.
The club had targeted Goretzka to potentially replace him, with the midfielder in a similar situation to Can at Schalke.
His deal expires next summer too, but Juventus, as well as being publicly interested in Can, have now entered the Goretzka race.
“We have no deep problems, but we have to look ahead, knowing that we need to be competitive and seize any opportunities that the market offers us,” chief director Beppe Marotta told Sky Italia.
“It’s not easy, and when you have to sign a player for Juventus. It’s not easy to find them.
“It’s also true that we need to reflect on this squad, in terms of age, but we also realise that we have great professionals.
“Emre Can and Leon Goretzka are two players with expiring contracts and I don’t hide the fact that we are following them both, like many other teams. The will of the players will be decisive.”
