Harry Kane admits he “probably” will not take corners again for England after the debacle of Euro 2016.
Kane – who is absolutely bloody knackered and has every right to be, by the way – endured a difficult tournament this summer with the national side, failing to score in four games.
The Tottenham striker’s efforts were mainly restricted to taking corners. Corners which were, for want of a better word, a bit sh*t, really.
Kane revealed that he has been the butt of a number of jokes after he was seen taking corners for Roy Hodgson’s side during Euro 2016 before captain Wayne Rooney took it upon himself to resume the task.
“Probably not,” he replied with a smirk when asked if he expected to take corners again.
“It’s obviously a laugh and a joke now. We had a bit of a laugh and a joke with the manager (Allardyce) about it, but it’s something that happened. I am happy to be in the box and hopefully I will get a goal for it.
“It has (become a talking point) now, on social media. You have just got to laugh with it.
“Of course it was a disappointing moment in the summer but it’s football, it’s what makes and breaks you as a player. It’s what grows you up as a player and that is what I have got to use to help me.”
