Keane wants to see more humility from ‘cocky’ Jose

Roy Keane admits that he wants to see more “humility” from Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho was appointed United manager in the summer, following on from the tumultuous reigns of David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.

The Portuguese has been praised since taking the role at Old Trafford, with many claiming that he has restored the club’s winning mentality.

They sit sixth in the Premier League table, but are just four points behind second-placed Manchester City, and they are in the latter stages of the EFL Cup, FA Cup and Europa League.

But former United midfielder Keane, speaking after a 1-0 win over St Etienne which could yet prove costly, says that he wants the 53-year-old to show more modesty.

Asked by ITV whether Mourinho has his ‘swagger’ back as a manager, Keane replied: “Yeah. Which is a pity really.”

He continued: “You’d like to see a bit more humility. But you knew once they’d start winning a few games, he’d get back to his old cocky self.”
