Klopp: Am I allowed to say I like Alex Ferguson?

Jurgen Klopp has expressed his admiration for former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ferguson praised Klopp on Thursday, claiming that the German had restored the Reds’ identity in his year at Anfield.

It was a claim that shocked some, considering the Scot’s storied rivalry with the Merseyside club during his time as United manager.

Speaking at his press conference on Friday, Klopp returned the favour by hailing the retired 74-year-old.

“I knew him before and he did what he had to do at Manchester, which automatically isn’t good for Liverpool,” he said.

“But it’s better he says something positive than negative about Liverpool.

“I’m sure he didn’t go out of his house and think ‘I’ll say some things about Liverpool’, he was asked a question!”
