Jurgen Klopp says he has “changed not my opinion but the situation” with regards to his Liverpool goalkeepers.
Simon Mignolet has been Liverpool’s first-choice keeper for most of the season so far, but was dropped to the bench for the 4-3 victory over Manchester City.
Loris Karius started but made one mistake to allow Leroy Sane to equalise in the breathless victory at Anfield.
Despite that, Klopp says the German is his “No. 1 now”.
“It’s a very difficult job to be a goalkeeper or a centre-half at Liverpool because nobody forgives you a mistake,” he said.
“Yes, Karius could have saved the first goal against City but he’s a really good keeper. He has settled, a lot of things about his game are natural.
“Loris needs to deliver and he knows that. He’s the No.1 now.
“He can play a game, concede a goal, but all the good things I’d like to see again.”
