Klopp discusses Teixeira’s move to China
Jurgen Klopp has discussed his thoughts on previous Liverpool target Alex Teixeira moving to China.
Teixeira had been courted by Liverpool throughout the January transfer window, but the Brazilian joined Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning on Friday in a deal worth around £38.5million.
The 26-year-old says Liverpool’s offers were “not concrete”, leading to Shakhtar Donetsk selling to the Chinese club.
But Klopp has “no problem” with the move, and says it was “an individual decision” on Teixeira’s behalf.
“First of all we should accept that we can all make our own decisions,” Klopp said.
“People talk about the financial power of England because of the TV contract. Maybe there is another power now? I have known for a few years now about the financial situation in China.
“It’s an individual decision. If you are 26 and get an offer like he did then everyone would think about it.
“I have no problem with this. I don’t think it’s a sign in general.”
