Klopp discusses whether he dreamed of managing Man United

Jurgen Klopp has denied claims that he dreamed of managing Manchester United when he started out in coaching.

Klopp will lead Liverpool into Saturday’s clash with United on Saturday knowing that a victory would lift spirits at Anfield.

But earlier in the week, former Mainz manager Eckhard Krautzun, his mentor in Germany, claimed that the 50-year-old always wanted to manage United.

“First of all.. I heard about an interview of a former manager of mine,” Klopp began on Friday.

“I really like him, but how it is, when I think too far in the past I’m not 100 per cent sure.

“I was a player with him. How could I, as a really average player, want to manage Manchester United? People think I’m crazy but not that crazy.

“He was a big admirer of Sir Alex Ferguson. He wore a Manchester United coat. He might not remember but I remember!

“A few things are not exactly.. but still funny! I had fun when I read it. Not all is exactly like he said. Sorry!”
